Highlander Adventure Slovenia: Content Creation at 2000 Meters

The Challenge

Highlander Adventure Slovenia runs two of the country's most demanding ultra trail races: Julian Alps (up to 100km) and Kamnik Savinja Alps. These aren't park jogathons—they're mountain endurance events where runners tackle elevation gains of 2,500+ meters across alpine terrain.

The client needed content that matched the intensity of the experience. No drone flyovers from a hotel room. They wanted real documentation: runners on the trails, checkpoints in the mountains, the atmosphere that makes people sign up for this kind of suffering.

That meant being where the action was—which in this case was camping in the mountains and hiking sections of the trail with participants.

Our Approach

We embedded with both events across 2025, treating each race as a multi-day production in alpine conditions. This wasn't a show-up-and-shoot situation—it required planning, endurance, and the right gear to operate in mountain environments.

Julian Alps Ultra Trail

The Event:

  • Multiple race distances: 100km, 75km, 50km, 25km

  • Elevation gain up to 2,500m

  • Routes through Triglav National Park

  • Checkpoints scattered across mountain terrain

Our Coverage:

  • Multi-day on-location production

  • Trail hiking with participants to capture authentic race experience

  • Camping in the mountains to access remote checkpoints

  • Pre-event content (athlete prep, start line atmosphere)

  • Live Stories and Reels during the race

  • Photography across multiple race segment

Kamnik Savinja Alps

The Event:

  • Similar ultra trail format in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps

  • Mountain routes with significant elevation

  • Multiple distance categories

  • Remote checkpoint locations

Our Coverage:

  • On-ground presence throughout the event

  • Trail documentation from inside the race experience

  • Real-time social media updates

  • Photography and video across race day

Why It Worked

Authenticity: You can't fake mountain trail content from the parking lot. Being on the trail, at the checkpoints, camping where the race happens—that's what made the content real.

Access: By embedding with the event rather than just covering it, we captured moments spectators never see: early morning starts in the mountains, runners pushing through remote checkpoints, the atmosphere at 2,000+ meters.

Endurance Production: Shooting an ultra trail race is its own endurance event. Carrying gear up mountains, operating in changing weather, staying mobile across multiple locations—it requires commitment that matches the race itself.

Content Library for 2026: Everything shot in 2025 becomes campaign material for 2026. Registration announcement posts, promotional reels, atmosphere teasers—it's all built from authentic event content.

The Setup

This wasn't a one-day shoot. Each event required:

  • Multi-day commitment (pre-event, race day, post-event)

  • Mountain camping and logistics

  • Weather-resistant gear and backup systems

  • Physical conditioning to hike trail sections with equipment

  • Real-time content creation and posting

  • Coordination across remote locations with limited connectivity

The challenge wasn't just capturing good content—it was doing it while operating in the same conditions as the athletes.

What's Next

All content from 2025 serves as the foundation for Highlander Adventure's 2026 campaign. We'll be handling the full social media campaign next year, using this authentic event footage to drive registrations and build anticipation.

The 2025 content library includes:

  • Race atmosphere and trail documentation

  • Athlete stories and finish line moments

  • POV trail footage

  • Checkpoint activity and mountain landscapes

  • Pre-event and live content formats

When we launch the 2026 campaign, it won't be stock footage or generic mountain imagery—it'll be real moments from real races.

The Takeaway

Mountain ultra trail content requires mountain ultra trail production. You can't phone it in from the sidelines. Highlander Adventure needed content creators willing to camp in the mountains, hike the trails, and operate in alpine conditions—because that's where the story happens.

We delivered a complete content library from both Julian Alps and Kamnik Savinja Alps events, positioning the 2026 campaign with authentic material that actually represents what these races are about.
